The Linkson Jack Bespoke Tie, Hat & Glove Review

Many of the reviews I write on this site are for specific brands, not of stores.  I feel like the format of this blog and its reviews are more fitting for brands and their specific products.  So when Linkson from Linkson Jack first contacted me about doing a review I was a bit hesitant.  However, upon taking a more detailed look at the store and its offerings I realized that much of what Linkson Jack has to offer are things I have not seen elsewhere.  And in fact are not readily available elsewhere.

So in the typical fashion of the reviews I do here, I chose the products I thought would make for a good review and wore them around for a while.  I initially chose 2 things to review, the wool hat and cashmere gloves.  Additionally, later on, at Linkson’s encouragement (and excitement) we added a bespoke tie to the mix.  So without further delay…

Linkson Jack’s bespoke tie program is pretty solid.  You can select from a number of fabrics (some of which are seasonal, thankfully) and then you define the measurements you want.  I settled on the solid navy silk with dimensions of 144cm (56.74″) by 8.5cm (3.35″).  I also dictated the tie by unlined, untipped and 6-fold (for which I paid the surcharge for).  The tie was made to my specifications exactly.

Currently, Linkson Jack’s bespoke ties are made by Arcuri Cravatte, which does all of its production in Italy.  There is also no keeper on the back of the tie, which is fine with me.  I am sure if you want one for your tie it can be done.

As you can see the tie has a nice symmetrical shape at the tip.  The hand stitching is even and clean, however, I would prefer that it could not be seen.

The silk used for the tie is exceptional.  It has a smooth feel to it and a relatively matte appearance compared to many other silks which I quite like.

The hand rolled edges are exquisite; some of the nicest I have seen.

The slip stitch.
cashmere gloves
The cashmere gloves ($40) have proved quite useful thus far this season. Although they are not ideal for snowy or wet conditions because, well, they are cashmere.  But they do a good job of keeping my hands warm and are especially fitting with more casual ensembles.

The gloves boast to be unisex, I would imagine they fit a variety of hand sizes given they do stretch a bit.  They are made by Johnston’s of Elgin and do seem to live up to the company’s reputation as a fine purveyor of knit goods.  Unfortunately, only the black ones are left but even then, a nice addition to a man or woman’s wardrobe.

As much as I love the tie the cable knit wool hat ($65) is my favorite of the things that Linkson sent me.  I am not typically a fan of beanie style hats but the cable knit weave is a total game changer, one of my favorite things is chunky cable knits.

Like the gloves, the hat is woven by Johnston’s of Elgin and is beautifully woven.  Its only weakness is in the wind, as it does not block the wind very well so at times the ears are a little chilled.  But a majority of the time it is very warm and exceptionally stylish.

Beautiful (you can see it being worn here).

Although Linkson Jack is an online store that doesn’t keep a house label Linkson has done a good job of curating a nice selection of men’s accessories and accoutrements.  Although the bespoke ties ($100-225) may be more than many are looking to spend, some of the lesser priced accessories may fit the bill, like the cashmere gloves and wool hat.  But all of the items I received (I did cover some of the cost) are a fair value in my eyes and I do not see a many having any type of buyers remorse.  If you have any questions, comments or experience of your own, please feel free to hit the comments section.
