The Summer Soiree yet again delivered one of the best nights of my summer. Something about the combination of Nantucket, girls with pearls, pastels and the Chicken Box is nearly flawless. Anyway, I don’t really know what requested dress code is, not sure anyone does. But at an event like this is doesn’t really matter because both guys and gals in these parts just know how to dress for such an event.
First and foremost I needed to wear something that I could dance in so linen and shorts were ideal. Second, I wanted something summery and simple with some strong pastel colors. Everything else fell in line with those two requirements.
For my part I donned some white linen shorts (Polo), a blue cotton/linen buttondown (MyTailor), a lime green jacket (Lilly Pulitzer, and yes I know the sleeves need shortened just a bit), pink gingham suspenders (custom made, soon to be for sale) and shades (Warby Parker). All paired with my ever faithful top siders and pocket square. You may be surprised to know that my ensemble was not the most aggressive in attendance. And you wonder why I call it The Promised Land…
As an administrative note, you may have noticed posts have been erratic the past few weeks. I have been and will continue to be on vacation for the next week and a half or so. Once I am back things will be more steady.

Do you attend mass on the island? If so, where?
To clarify: I’m actually interested in what people wear to church there as I’ve never been and don’t want to look out of place.) Does everyone wear blazers and ties? What are the reputations of the different Catholic Churches?

To be honest, I do not know what people where to mass/church on island. I also know nothing of the various Catholic churches on island (I myself am not Catholic). However, as a general rule of thumb, I think a man should always wear a jacket to church/mass/synagogue etc. I highly doubt you would be out of place in one here on Nantucket.
