45.  Thou shall not wear a sports watch with a suit.  It would be like playing lacrosse in dress shoes, and no one wants to see that.

  1. I couldn’t agree more, but are you prepared to include the legions of men out there wearing submariners to the office?

  2. Ditto Seamasters. I’m sure I have seen a photograph of Prince William wearing a Seamaster with a suit.

    • The Man & Geoff,

The one word answer is yes I am including chronographs such as Submariners and Seamasters. Personally, I would not wear a Seamaster or Submariner with a suit. First, there is the issue of formality; they are just not formal enough for a suit. Second, they are too large and visually distracting. However, if I was pulling some James Bond style stuff I suppose I would wear a chronograph out of necessity. This all said, the rule is mainly aimed at digital sport watches and although I am against Submariner style watches also being worn with a suit I do appreciate that a guy at least pays attention to having a nice watch and as such I can tolerate them, sometimes…

  3. Submariners and Seamasters are DIVER watches, not CHRONOGRAPHS. Having said that I agree on dress watches being the best alternative to wear with a suit.
