Behind FYGblog is a person, as is the case with all blogs.  And through the growth and travels of the blog and other of life’s adventures I have come across many a good friend and many an interesting venture.  It seems that all at once three of these ventures are coming to fruition and I would feel remiss not giving my friends due credit for their efforts and a thanks for the guidance and friendship they have showed me over the years.  And also in the hopes that you, my readers will find some benefit.

The first such ventures is J. Fitzpatrick shoes.  Which is the brain child of fellow blogger Justin Fitzpatrick of The Shoe Snob.  For years he has dreamed of having his own shoe line and has taken drastic steps, like moving to Italy to apprentice without knowing any Italian, to make it happen.  And now it is happening.  And quite honestly the shoes are stunning, which you can figure out for yourself by looking at the photos.  He is currently holding a pre-order sale in which shoes are 20% off retail.  I plan to indulge in at least 2 pair, I recommend you do the same.

The second venture is UnBuyThat.com.  The purpose of UnBuyThat is to allow consumers to sell products of services that there is currently a lack of or limited market place for.  Things like hotel and restaurant reservations, tours and things that normally require a non-refundable deposit.  As an example, say you have put a $500 deposit down on a weekend stay at a hotel but you can no longer make the trip but do not want to be out $500.  You can sell the reservation on UBT as a discount (or full value) to help mitigate your losses.  I have known Neil and the rest of the founding team for a few years and have seen them put their hearts and souls into the venture so I have the utmost faith in their ability to deliver a unique and useful product.

The last of the ventures is Prollie.  In short, Prollie is a social search tool that helps you find people outside of your normal Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr circles who share similar interests.  Also, Prollie will grade you on your social media influence/abilities using its proprietary algorithms. I’ve only gotten time to browse the site once but it’s pretty cool and has some promising potential.   And as I now know, I have some work to do on my Twitter game…

Good fortune to Justin, Neil, Mike and their teams in the coming weeks, months and years.

Cheers,

Justin L Jeffers

Note: FYGblog did not receive any type of compensation from any of the ventures mentioned here.  Just spreading the good word.

  1. they had to be dry cleaned after one wear, by tsheemlves, in a new batch of solution. Poor Tom, I thought, with his admirable but ruinously expensive dedication to style!Lo and behold I am gladdened to see that he wears other colors – maybe he can get two or three wears out of this color!Tom looks super well turned out naturally, but it is a bit mind blowing to think he is an elderly man. In my mind he is the cheeky and amusing youngish man of his early writings! (and somehow, I know he still is).
